Brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Tobia Scarpa began the FLOS venture in 1962 in Merano, northern Italy, creating contemporary lighting fixtures with artistic verve. Experimenting in new techniques, they made design history with their unique cocoon-like fixtures created by spraying resin over a steel structure. FLOS offers a structurally creative alternative to the everyday suspension. Going beyond mere function, FLOS fixtures are high concept, quality Italian lighting fixtures that really serve as works of art, some of which have even become icons in the contemporary lighting field. The company is built upon the strong concepts of international designers Patricia Urquiola, Paolo Rizzatto, Philippe Starck and many more.
